Dr. Joe Howell

Joe M. Howell, DVM, an Oklahoma City veterinarian, has been co-owner of Britton Road Veterinary Clinic in Oklahoma City for thirty-three years.

Involved in organized veterinary medicine for most of his career, Dr. Howell has served as president, vice president, and secretary of the Oklahoma County Veterinary Medical Association. A member of the Oklahoma Veterinary Medical Association (OVMA), Dr. Howell received the OVMA President’s Award in 1990. Prior to serving as the American Veterinary Medical Association president from 2002 to 2003, Dr. Howell served on the AVMA executive board and represented Oklahoma as the alternate delegate in the AVMA House of Delegates.

Dr. Howell is an active alumnus of Oklahoma State University and a serving member of the Dean’s Advisory committee at the College of Veterinary Medicine. He received both his Bachelor of Science and Veterinary Medical degrees from the university. Dr. Howell is a member of the Board of Governors of the Oklahoma State University Foundation. He is also a member and past president of the Board of Trustees of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art.

Dr. Howell and his wife, Jayme, have two children, Sumrall and Martin. Mrs. Howell is a licensed speech pathologist and practices in Oklahoma City. The Howells are active members of the Nichols Hills United Methodist Church.
